Plenária: ADVANCING SUSTAINABILITY: FROM CLOSED LOOP TO RENEWABLE ENERGY SUPPLY CHAINS

Resumo: In today's rapidly evolving landscape, sustainability has gained immense recognition. Supply chains, as pivotal systems within this context, are under increasing pressure to adopt sustainable practices. This includes designing and planning closed-loop supply chains, which focus on material reuse, and developing innovative renewable energy supply chains, such as hydrogen supply chains. However, the complexity of these systems presents significant challenges in balancing environmental and social objectives with the traditional goal of profitability. To address these challenges, the development of decision-support tools for supply chain decision-makers is essential. This presentation highlights the main components of such tools, adopting a systemic approach and emphasizing the use of optimization-based models to effectively capture sustainability objectives within supply chains. By exploring these aspects, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of sustainability and stimulate innovative operational research approaches to achieving sustainable supply chains.
